Where we started from and where we are heading to

Founded in 2010

The Human Factors and Ergonomics Society Malaysia (HFEM) that founded on 5 June 2010, is an interdisciplinary non-profit organization comprising of professionals from human factors, ergonomics, and human-computer interaction (HCI) fields. The Society promotes sharing and application of knowledge concerning characteristics of human that are applicable to the design of products, systems, and services. The Society encourages the education and training of members entering the human factors and HCI profession.

 

Our vision

HFEM envision being a leader in HF/E development by developing the discipline, profession, and contributing to the society at large.

Our mission

Promote the growth and exchange of knowledge related to the characteristics of human beings that are applicable to the design of various systems and devices.

Advocate systematic use of such knowledge to achieve compatibility in the design of interactive systems among people, machine, and environment, to ensure their effectiveness, safety, and performance.

Strategic goals

We focus on eight strategic goals to achieve the HFEM vision

Take local, regional, and global responsibility.

Remain at the forefront of technological and scientific development.

Disseminate information about Human Factors Engineering (HFE) and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) on a global scale.

Facilitate communication among professionals.

Develop guidelines for educational accreditation and professional certification.

Seek new sources of funding.

Give to members opportunities in HFEM business by doing special projects.

Recruit new members actively.

Where we started

Formation meeting of HFEM on June 2010.

HFEM Protem President attended the SEANES 2010 Conference, at Cebu, Philippines on December 2010.

Participants at Seminar on “Ergonomics Myth” by Professor Martin Helander. The seminar was held at Mimos Berhad on 23 July 2011.

The first election of HFEM Officers was held during the first HFEM Annual Grand Meeting (AGM) on 23 July 2011, at Mimos Berhad.

Discussion on RAGI (Rakyat, Academics, Government, and Industry) concept on  23 July 2011.

HFEM Executive Board meeting was held on 4 February 2012, at Mimos Berhad.

Professor Chris Wickens delivered the seminar on “Attention Theory: applications to design, training, workload & decision” at Mimos Berhad, on 4 February 2012.

HFEM participated in South East Asian Network of Ergonomics Societies (SEANES) 2012 Committee Meeting on 4 February 2012.

The Past International Ergonomics Association (IEA) officers attended the SEANES 2012 Conference. The event was held at Langkawi, Kedah on  12 July 2012.       

HFEM and NIOSH held a meeting to discuss an MoU at Johor Bahru, on November 2012.

Exchange of MoU between HFEM and NIOSH on 25 June 2013.

First RAGI Workshop was organized on 25 June 2013.

HFEM-MRM Public Seminar in Ergonomics Month was held on 8 July 2013.
