The Human Factors and Ergonomics Society Malaysia (HFEM) that founded on 5 June 2010, is an interdisciplinary non-profit organization comprising of professionals from human factors, ergonomics, and human-computer interaction (HCI) fields.
The Society promotes the growth and exchange of knowledge related to the characteristics of human beings that are applicable to the design of various systems and devices. Furthermore, the Society advocates systematic use of such knowledge to achieve compatibility in the design of interactive systems among people, machine, and environment, to ensure their effectiveness, safety, and performance.
Here, there are five Special Interest Groups that you can take advantage of, which are Engineering, Transportation, Occupational Ergonomics, Ergonomics in Design for All (EinDfA), and Human Computer Interaction (HCI) [link to each page].
The HFEM is the only professional society in Malaysia dedicated solely to human factors and ergonomics (HFE) and human-computer interaction (HCI) specialists. Being a member of the Society indicates to colleagues, clients, and potential employers that you are a qualified and respected professional.
Joining the HFEM provides opportunity to meet other HFE and HCI professionals. The annual AGM, biennial Human Factors and Ergonomics Seminar (HFES) and HFEM Conference provide a setting to connect with experts.
The affiliation can be added to your business card, letterhead, and resume to indicate that you are a recognized HFE/HCI professional.
Ergonomics Insight – a quarterly HFEM newsletter bringing members news about important activities and people related to the field, conference notices, and Society activities.
HFEM organizes certification training, webinar, seminar and journal publishing on various topics in HFE and HCI. You can participate with special discount rate for members.
The HFEM Conference is the main HFEM event that organized in every two years. You have a chance to present your idea or run a workshop. The social activities at the conference give excellent opportunity to meet with other professionals and catch up with old friends. As an HFEM member, you can enjoy special discount rate for the registration fee.
SIGs are open to all members with particular interest fields. These are valuable ways to bring you to other professionals, and working in related research and industry. SIGs are run by members, for members – if you want to initiate SIG for your interest field and could generate sufficient interest from members, submit your application to HFEM Executive Board.
HFEM members receive discounts from publishers for books and journals from leading publishers, that identified by HFEM.
