ERGONOMICS TRAINED PERSON (LEVEL 2) under DOSH ERA GUIDELINES 2017

This course is the sequence of initial ergonomics risk assessment guideline 2017 developed by DOSH. This course will give participants the insight of reporting ergonomics risk assessment based on each of the significant risk factors including environmental ergonomics risks.

The advanced method will cover general method used to assess risk factors related to postural risk and manual handling issues. Participants will be trained by using various video samples, including intratester reliability test in order to achieve the same level of understanding.

Training will cover the overall understanding of the ergonomics guidelines with emphasize on advanced ergonomics risk assessment and suggested method in preparing a report. Participants will be trained to be the trained person in conducting and reporting the outcome for DOSH under Section 15 of OSH Act 1994

At the end of the training, participants will be able to be a trained person in posture and manual handling risk factors assessor and able to produce a complete report for every method taught in every session.

CPEM Workshop

1st workshop of Certified Professional Ergonomist Malaysia (CPEM) on 21st Sept 2017 led by Prof Halimahtun, as many as 25-30 participants, ranging from academia, independent consultants as well as industries gathered in the workshop to give their valuable inputs for the CPEM program.

The workshop helped determine the goals for certification, the certified titles to be awarded, the courses to be offered to complete gaps in human factors and ergonomics knowledge, and the process for certification to be adopted by HFEM.

Assessment for environmental ergonomics factors

HFEM-SOCSO Program (7) 2017

This is a 7th program organized by HFEM and supported by SOCSO held in Pulau Pinang. This program is attended by 39 participants from various department from Sanmina-SCI System on October 16,2017.

Participants were introduced to historical development, definition, daily and industrial applications; legislative requirements; general health effects and ergonomics risk factors. Several examples of case-studies were used for spontaneous exercises for participants in order to test their understanding of ergonomics concept in workplace environment.

Further exploration lighting, noise and vibration, temperature (hot and cold) and ventilation were further discussed in order to provide knowledge on each element and identified the strategies for workplace improvement.

Ergonomics for Healthcare Sector

HFEM-SOCSO Program (6) 2017
 

Ergonomics for Healthcare Sector is a program organized by HFEM and supported by SOCSO. This program has been successfully held at KPJ Seremban Specialist, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.

The first session started with a SOCSO representative delivered information about the SOCSO and benefits of SOCSO’s contributors.  After the morning tea break, the participants were introduced to definition and concept of ergonomics. Several examples of hospital case-studies were used as exercises for participants in order to test their understanding of ergonomics concept at healthcare environment and workplace.

Further exploration of one concept (fatigue) in human factor model was deeply used to provide the understanding of direct factors, influencing factors and intervention in healthcare settings.  In the final session, participants were also introduced to several types of stretching exercises to practice and perform in future.

Introduction to Ergonomics Assessment Method held on 1-2 August 2017 at CIESH Excellent Academy. This two-days training program is designed specifically based on the new Ergonomics Guideline 2017 for practitioners who would like to be a Trained Person in conducting Ergonomics Risk Assessment (Initial Level).

Office Ergonomics & Manual Handling Talk

HFEM has been invited to give a talk on Office Ergonomics and Manual Handling at Dutch Lady Milk Industries, Petaling Jaya , Selangor. A two-hours talk was one of the activities scheduled in conjunction with Safety, Health and Environmental Week to create awareness on the importance of practicing safe work culture among workers. It was organized by Department of Safety, Health and Environment, Dutch Lady Milk Industries (DLMI) on August 16, 2017.

Ergonomics for Agricultural Sector

HFEM-SOCSO Program (5) 2017

Ergonomics for Agricultural Sector is a program organized by HFEM and supported by SOCSO. This program has been successfully held at Risda Plantation Sdn. Bhd. , Ampang, Kuala Lumpur on August 22, 2017. Special thanks to all participants from  Risda Plantation for a great support and active participation during the program.

Generally, the session went well where SOCSO representative delivered the information about the SOCSO and benefits of SOCSO’s contributors.  After the morning tea break, the participants were introduced to the definition, concept of ergonomics and examples of ergonomics risk factors. Various pictures were used for spontaneous exercises for participants to test their knowledge – identify the risk factors of ergonomics. Online quiz and group work session were conducted in order to assess the participants’ understanding on ergonomics. In the final session, participants were also introduced to several types of exercise during stretching exercise demonstration so that they can practice and perform accordingly in future.
