HFEM has successfully organized a 2-day Initial ERA training for Ergonomics Trained Person (ETP). The training was conducted by  Dr. Baba Md Deros (Profile).

The training was attended by 17 participants from various industry sectors.

Initial Ergonomics Risk Assessment cover all the Ergonomics risk factors as listed below:

  • Awkward posture
  • Static position and sustained work posture
  • Forceful exertion
  • Repetitive motion
  • Vibration (HAV & WBV)
  • Environmental Risk Factor

HFEM received SOSCO grant for training program

On 2nd February 2023, HFEM had received SOCSO grant for a total of RM58,195 for training program in 2023. The award event was held at Menara PERKESO, Putrajaya and HFEM was represented by the President HFEM, Assoc. Prof Dr Ng Yee Guan.
 
HFEM will organize 11 training and development programs under the SOCSO grant.

Bengkel Pembangunan Modul “OSH Club” Sekolah Menengah

Bagi mendokong Teras Strategik 3 di bawah OSHMP25 dalam meningkatkan Pendidikan dan Penyelidikan KKP di Malaysia, pada 28-29 Januari 2023, HFEM telah dijemput untuk menjadi wakil dalam Bengkel Pembangunan Modul OSH Club. Modul ini akan diperkenalkan kepada sekolah rendah dan sekolah menengah. HFE diwakili oleh Dr. Mohd Zubairy Shamsudin dari Unisel.

Bengkel ini berlangsung di Wisma MSOSH, Shah Alam Selangor. Modul OSH Club dirangka bagi menerapkan latihan asas berkenaan KKP di sekolah-sekolah rendah dan menengah di Malaysia. Murid yang menyertai OSH Club ini, akan dapat membudayakan amalan selamat dan sihat dalam menjalani aktiviti kehidupan seharian.

HFEM representative in Industrial Hygiene Catalyst Committee (IH2C) Board

The Industrial Hygience Catalyst Committee (IH2C) Board meeting was held on 26 January 2023 at Petronas Tower 1.
 
As one of non-profit society for ergonomics and safety field, HFEM was invited to be part of the IH2S Board and the Society agreed to appoint the President, Assoc. Prof Dr Ng Yee Guan to represent the HFEM in the IH2C Board.  
 
The objective of IH2C is to increase the awareness, knowledge, and commitment of employer, employee, and occupational safety and health practitioners through:
  • Involvement in promotion activity for occupational health in industry
  • Contribute in knowledge and expertise aspects for developing promotion materials for occupational safety and health
  • Assist the division to spread promotion materials of occupational health in industry

HFEM will share expertise in Petronas HFM Capability Building Module

On 11 January 2023, HFEM was invited to participate in Human Factors Management (HFM) Capability Building Module meeting, at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). This initiative was organized by Petronas.

HFEM was represented by Dr. Ng Yee Guan (President HFEM), Dr. Dian Darina Indah Daruis (Vice President HFEM), Mr. Hafizul Hilmi (HFEM Board Member), and Dr Ibrahim Taib (SIG Engineering, HFEM). In the meeting, HFEM representative Dr. Ibrahim was invited to deliver a talk on “Human Factors in Error Management”. 

HFEM and Petronas will collaborate for developing training modules for their internal staff and operators.

HFE collaborated with UniMAP on Design Thinking Bootcamp (Ergobility 2022)

On 16-17 December 2022, HFEM organized 2-days Design Thinking Bootcamp: Ergobility 2022 at Fakulti Teknologi Kejuruteraan Mekanikal (FKTM) A (DPU2/MPU1), UniMAP. The program was participated 40 students and practitioners. 

As a means to quickly spread the basic of Design Thinking throughout as many participants as possible, the 2 days bootcamp on the basic of Design Thinking and its application as the framework for innovation is proposed, here are a handful of facilitators in the art of Design Thinking shall tour the country and conducting as many bootcamps as possible. In order that skills learned in these bootcamps are not lost, ErgoLympic 2023 where participants can further improve their skills must be setup.

The objectives of the Bootcamp are to train participants to be able to:

  • Define what is innovation and understand the difference between innovation, creativity, and invention
  • Know the taxonomy and types of innovations
  • Familiar with the framework for creative making based on Design Thinking
  • Apply the technique of understanding and observation as a means to gather inspiration
  • Familiar with a number of effective thinking techniques and their application to generate ideas
  • Apply prototyping techniques to evaluate ideas
  • Understand the importance of ergonomics value in design and innovation and be able to estimate them
  • Use appropriate communication techniques to communicate concepts and ideas

Advanced ERA training offers a combination of methods in two days sessions. The following is several methods of choice:

  • Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) – for postural assessment
  • Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) – for postural assessment
  • Rapid Office Strain Assessment (ROSA) – for office-based task assessment
  • Assessment of Repetitive Tasks (ART) – for assessment of repetitive tasks of the upper limbs
  • Manual Handling Assessment Chart – Forceful Exertion
  • Risk Assessment for Pushing and Pulling (RAPP) – Forceful Exertion

Bengkel Pemurnian Modul dan Pelan Pembelajaran OSH Club

Pada 11-13 November 2022, HFEM telah dijemput sebagai panel pemurnian modul bagi memantapkan lagi modul berkaitan keselamatan dan kesihatan pekerjaan serta kesedaran ergonomik di sekolah-sekolah.

Bengkel ini adalah berkaitan Bengkel Pemurnian Modul dan Pelan Pembelajaran Occupational Safety & Health Club (OSH Club) bagi Teras Strategik 3, Program 1, Aktiviti 1 di bawah OSHMP 25.

Bengkel ini telah dianjurkan oleh pihak JKKP dan telah berlangsung selama 3 hari di Palm Seremban hotel, Negeri Sembilan.

Seminar Kepentingan Keselamatan Reka Bentuk Label dan Pembungkusan Produk Pengguna

Pada 28 Oktober 2022, HFEM (SIG Ergonomics in Design for All) dengan kerjasama PERKESO dan Fakulti Kejuruteraan dan Teknologi Mekanikal, UniMAP telah menganjurkan Seminar Reka bentuk Label dan Pembungkusan Selamat Bagi Produk Pengguna.

Program yang dianjurkan secara percuma ini telah disertai oleh 41 orang peserta.

Fokus seminar ini adalah seperti berikut:

1. PERKESO
Skim Perlindungan, Faedah dan Tuntutan PERKESO.

2. KEPENTINGAN PELABELAN
Pengenalan Jenis- jenis Label, Perbezaan Label dan bungkusan, Label Usahawan dan penilaian, Pandangan pelanggan terhadap label, Cara memperbaharui rekabentuk Label, Elemen penting dalam rekaan label dan pembungkusan.

3. KEPENTINGAN PEMBUNGKUSAN
Perbezaan antara pembungkusan makanan dan bukan makanan, Jenis pembungkusan makanan di pasaran Malaysia dan global, Penilaian bungkusan produk makanan, Penilaian pandangan sasaran pasaran di Malaysia,Cara memperbahui label dan pembungkusan produk,Elemen dan kriteris penting dalam rekabentuk label dan bungkusan mengikut Akta dan standard yang betul.

4. KEPENTINGAN MEMAHAMI AKTA DAN STANDARD KESELAMATAN DALAM REKABENTUK PERLABELAN DAN PEMBUNGKUSAN YANG SELAMAT BAGI PRODUK PENGGUNA.
Memahami akta dan standard keselamatan dalam rekabentuk perlabelan dan pembungkusan bagi memastikan maklumat dan informasi wajib produk sampai kepada pengguna sasaran. Menyebarluas maklumat akta dan standard label dan pembungkusan perlu difahami sebagai suatu garispanduan keselamatan.
