Webinar on Future Ready the Ergonomics Workforce

HFEM under Student Chapter has organized a Webinar on Future Ready of the Ergonomics Workforce on 28 October 2022. Five speakers were invited to deliver their experience from different industries and academics. This webinar attracted 40 participants who interested in ergonomics and human factors fields.

Workplace Ergonomics Controls In Manufacturing Industry-Outcome Based Processes Seminar

HFEM in collaboration with SOCSO has successfully organized a Seminar on Workplace Ergonomics Controls in Manufacturing Industry – Outcome Based Processes on 27th October 2022. The seminar was held at Sri Putra 5 @ LR 2, Bangunan TNCPI, UPM Serdang, Selangor.

The invited speakers were Ts. Muhammad Naqiuddin (ErgoLead), Dr Radin Zaid Radin Umar (UTeM), and Ts. Mohd Asyraf Che Doi (UniMAP).

 

*Objektif seminar ini diadakan adalah untuk: 
  • Membincangkan cabaran, jurang, dan penghalang yang dialami oleh pengamal industri khususnya berkenaan kawalan ergonomik di tempat kerja didalam industri pembuatan.
  • Menerangkan proses berasaskan hasil (outcome based) terutamanya di dalam program kawalan ergonomik di tempat kerja.
  • Melakukan perkongsian kajian kes berkenaan program kawalan ergonomik tempat kerja dari segi rekabentuk, program kembali bekerja (return to work) dan pengurusan kes kepada pekerja yang telah mendapat penyakit otot rangka (musculoskeletal disorder, MSD).

Heavy Goods Vehicle Safety Seminar 2022

On 11 October 2022, HFEM had collaborated with MIROS in organizing the Heavy Goods Vehicle Safety Seminar 2022. The seminar was held at MIROS Kajang, Selangor and attended by 35 participants. 
 

This seminar offers a platform for researchers, policy makers, regulators, road agencies, heavy vehicle manufacturers and suppliers, transport industry, safety & health officers (SHOs), OSH coordinators (OSH-Cs), safety committee members, and OSH practitioners to exchange knowledge and experiences related to heavy goods vehicle safety.

Bengkel Pembangunan Garis Panduan Ergonomik dalam Sektor Pertanian

Pada 3-4 Oktober 2022, HFEM telah menganjurkan satu Bengkel Pembangunan Garis Panduan Ergonomik dalam Sektor Pertanian, bertempat di Sime Darby Plantation Academy (SDPA), Pulau Carey. Bengkel ini telah dimudah cara oleh Prof. Dr Shamsul Bahri Md Tamrin dari UPM Serdang.

Objektif bengkel ini dijalankan adalah untuk:

  • Mengenalpasti proses kerja di sektor pertanian dan seterusnya mengenalpasti hazard ergonomik secara spesifik bagi industri pertanian.
  • Menyenaraikan contoh-contoh penambahbaikan yang sedia ada dan boleh digunakan oleh sektor pertanian bagi menguruskan isu ergonomik di tempat kerja.
  • Menerbitkan dapatan di atas sebagai sebuah garispanduan pengurusan ergonomik bagi sektor pertanian sebagai bahan rujukan.
  • Menyumbang ke arah matlamat jangka panjang vision zero iaitu “strengthen awareness of health, safety and well-being at work” dan “get as much involvement and support as possible from the target groups”.

2-days Design Thinking Bootcamp in Conjunction with HFES 2022

On 26-27 September 2022, HFEM under the SIG Ergonomics in Design for All (EinDfA) had organized a 2-days Design Thinking Bootcamp in Faculty of Design and Architecture, UPM Serdang. 
 
This program trained the participants to solve problems using tools and concepts of Design Thinking, with an emphasis on listening, user empathy, whole brain thinking, collaboration, and experimentation, the design thinking process offers a complementary approach to analytical decision thinking. The process can open a new path to innovation at your workplace and surrounding.
 
The program was conducted by an HFEM Board Member, Dr. Stephen Poon (Asia Pacific University).

SOHELP Training (September 2022)

HFEM has successfully conducted Systematic Occupational Health Enhancement Level Program (SOHELP) Training on 7-8 September 2022, at TNCPI UPM- Pejabat Timbalan Naib Canselor (Penyelidikan & Inovasi), UPM Serdang. The training was delivered by Dr Vivien How.
 

The area of occupational safety and health is related to the “health” SDG, namely its target 3.9: “by 2030 substantially reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from hazardous chemicals and air, water, and soil pollution and contamination”; the “jobs” SDG, namely its target 8.8: “protect labour rights and promote safe and secure working environments of all workers, including migrant workers, particularly women migrants, and those in precarious employment”; and the “institutions” SDG, namely its target 16.6: “develop effective, accountable and transparent institution all levels”.

 

Systematic Occupational Health Enhancement Level Programme (#SOHELP) is a Systematic Intervention Programme initiated by Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Malaysia to help industries enhance industrial hygiene standards in the workplace, pertaining to occupational health in the field of chemical, noise, and ergonomic management.

Bengkel Pembangunan Garis Panduan Ergonomik Di Sektor Pembuatan 2022 (Siri 1)

Pada 25 Ogos 2022, HFEM telah menjemput pengamal industri dalam sektor pembuatan untuk menyertai Bengkel Pembangunan Garis Panduan Ergonomik untuk Sektor Pembuatan. Program ini telah berlangsung di Bangunan Pejabat Timbalan Naib Canselor (Penyelidikan & Inovasi), UPM Serdang.

Program ini merupakan pembangunan Garispanduan Ergonomik yang melibatkan sektor sektor yang menerima pampasan tertinggi dari PERKESO. Kos-kos yang terlibat adalah bagi menampung kos elaun saguhati. 

Analisa statistik PERKESO dari tahun 2009-2014 menunjukkan sektor yang menerima jumlah pampasan tertinggi akibat penyakit Muskuloskeletal dari PERKESO adalah Sektor Pembuatan, Peruncitan, Tenaga/Komunikasi dan Pertanian. Pembangunan dan penerbitan buku garis panduan ergonomik bagi Sektor Pembuatan akan membantu dan menggalakkan penglibatan pemain pemain industri di sektor ini bagi mengenal pasti dan seterusnya mengawal faktor risiko ergonomik di tempat kerja mereka dan seterusnya membantu mengurangkan kes kes MSD di tempat kerja.

Objektif bengkel ini adalah untuk:

  • Mengenal pasti proses kerja di sektor pembuatan dan seterusnya mengenal pasti bahaya ergonomik (ergonomics hazard) secara spesifik bagi industri pembuatan
  • Menyenaraikan contoh-contoh penambahbaikan yang sedia ada dan boleh digunakan oleh sektor pembuatan bagi menguruskan isu ergonomik di tempat kerja
  • Menerbitkan dapatan di atas sebagai sebuah garispanduan pengurusan ergonomik bagi sektor pembuatan sebagai bahan rujukan
  • Menyumbang ke arah matlamat jangka panjang Vision Zero iaitu “strengthen awareness of health, safety and well-being at work” dan “get as much involvement and support as possible from the target groups”.
